Later we will discuss some of the joys as well as
some of the tribulations of sharing our lives with these magnificent
animals but for now, we just hope you will enjoy their beauty. Remember,
our time with our animal friends is limited. When we first put these
pages up, all our friends were here with us and full of life. Today,
we only have a very few to greet us. When they howl, it is almost a
lonely sound. We listen for the voices that are now long gone and then
remember: they are silenced forever. If you can't love them for all they are worth now and remember them
for all they were when they are gone, don't get involved. It hurts to
much to let them go. Please read one of the NWA newsletters concerning the death of pets to help you through the grieving process. It has helped us. It is still hard but we know we must let go and it
is just part of the process. We believe we will be united with
them again.
She is every
bit as sweet as she appears in this picture. There is no doubt in
her mind that every stranger who comes here, comes for the express purpose
of meeting her. She is the daughter of Thor and Empress Alexandria
and granddaughter of Mountain and Shena.

Kachina is another
ham! She is our "grinner". Her show of teeth sometimes puts strangers off
but all she is doing is trying to win your favor. I haven't the
foggiest idea how she learned this trick but she is truly sincere. She only
does it for those she likes (or thinks she will). She, too, is a Gabe
Davidson animal.
Kachina was born May 18, 1992. She died October 7, 2006.

Kohana
is Kachina's mate. Born
April 22, 1992, Kohana passed away Jan. 6, 2005 of a stroke like
event. According to vets who are instructors at one of the most
prominent vet schools in Alabama, his spine probably gave way due to
his age and weight.

Chato (m), left, and Mansi (f), right, were just pups here. Barbara was only a pup herself, at just barely 12. Today, Mansi is a striking silver. Chato has maintained his black coloration for the most part but is beginning to fade. This really isn't unusual with "black phase" animal. Mansi passed away from cancer the morning of July 13, 2004 at the age of 12. Chato died March 17, 2005 of cancer at almost 13 years old. He is again resting beside his beloved and mourned Mansi. |
